Q:i recently bought from ebay member hobbymodel 2x egg game with serial 24xxxxxx are these numbers incorrect
A:yes very sus
my reply:
thats bad news cause i bought 9 wide screens from him im pretty sure that some have had been opened and parts changed as one had correct serial numbers for flat pins 073xxx but had 2nd ed pins so i opened unit and noticed polarised screen had been replaced with non genuine part(by the way tell mike there are 3 different types of acl pins)
the serial numbers on the eggs are 24555675 and 24555693 both have nintendo co ltd 1981 which seems wrong second editions as serials suggest should say c nin 81 also
the closeness on these numbers seems a little strange one is very clean the other has some blackmarks/faded edge i cant really say they look like they have been replaced other than to say both are dead centre in crevice which generally isnt the case often slightly angled or to one end

i can add one other thing i have seen and recorded dk52 serial number on second edition game unit (box was second/third edition)futurtronic which was lower then first editions numbers the seller said they had owned since a child if they were honest then this is an anomoly i will have to find were i wrote this down i will then post exact details.

there is currently a boxed edition of egg for sale on ebay with serial 23796408 it is also a first edition so maby as these units were made in such limited numbers no second edition case was made? so serial numbers on thes e units is possibly original contrary to what i have stated previously.

more on serial numbers i have a second edition game third edition box fr27 serial number 23177881 it has third edition acl pins so...this could be a way to tell fake serials as units with 24xxxxxx should have these pins

Hi, the 23xxxxxx number currently on ebay is real.

as far as I am aware Egg has 2 serial schemas, results returned from the DB:

Item: Game 06862418
Item: Game 23796408
Item: Game 23808305

as you can see there is the 23X and te 06X, both are know valid ranges. There is no doubt that the 24X numbers are interesting, allthough there are valid games in the 24X range, I doubt Egg is one of them.

i.e. most of the new wides have some ranges in the 24X, but I don't have any records of any older origional wides in that range. BUT having said that my database or the "data" collected before is not conclusive, as it's more "collated" etc.

The more people that place serials in the DB the better off we will be.

im looking at the items i got from hobbymodel and i think its quite obvious that the wide screen serials are incorrect as none have 3rd ed pins and were probally lifted from new wide screens as they are so close to the wide screens i purchased from him?

I don't know whether to say they're from New Widescreens or not- In my opinion, the numbers on the serials just don't look right. The 2's and 4's on some games like Egg are too close together.

well liam is right that the numbers are close together there are two posibiltys forged serials or the print run of 24xxxxxx was printed like this at any rate i would say as i have another 3rd ed pins serial sp31 21xxxxxxx so im pretty convinced this is easy way to tell if serials have been changed and in these eggs case the pins are incorrect.

well.. ive just looked more carefully and compared pins on these 2x eggs 24xx and they do have 3rd ed pins woops sorry to get that wrong (as people ware down the pins from use 3rd look like 2nd if not checked carefully also maby my eyes arnt as good anymore too much pc ill use my maginifyer light more) but as i said before about these there had been internal tampering so leaves the question open about these serials i have a 23xxxx serial were the 23 print is very close together as well so if forgery has occurred it has happened in the 23xxxxxx range too

I doubt anyone has gone to the trouble of recreating the whole game, but in theory it would not take much to get fake serials made.

I recently bought an Egg on Ebay, from a guy who bought it from Hobbymodel Its serial reads 24555745 and the game doesn't seem quite right to me. This game only works with LR-44 batteries, the LR-43's don't seem to be large enough to make contact with the terminals (!!)

I opened the game and the filter seemed really dodgy, it seemed to have slightly warped since being inside the game. There was also a little black thing inside which should only be present in first edition games (hard to explain what it is, it falls out as soon as a game is opened and is basically impossible to put back).

Bring in the detectives!!

ps
alot of the games i got from hm had battery terminals that have been bent down from using lr44 instead of correct lr43
this can be fixed by bending back up carefully/slowly terminal pins
also black rubber lcd screen holder has been in all models/editions i have opened unless they had already been opened and not replaced properly
