Strange paintwork on DM-53 cover, has anyone seen this before? was created by AllanAj
Hello, bought Mickey and Donald game (DM-53) with original box and documents last week. Did not notice right away, but on cover plate word: DONALD blue paint goes over the text borders, but only between letters (pic 1). Has anyone seen this?
Could it be factory mistake? I also noticed that plastic inside is not quite white but little beige-yellow (pic 2).
Everything else is as it supposed to be and game works fine. Took it appart and the insides looked legit to me (pic 3).
All the best
Allan

Very odd issue! The inner plastic frames in this game are not exactly white, but somewhat beige indeed (although the color of these ones seems to be darker... maybe another photo can help us to appraise). But it's really strange this "color bleeding" across the letters in the front plate! Only to compare situations, my Donkey Kong (DK-52) came with its front plate glued upside down... perhaps these issues are some kind of extremely rare defects in the G&W production line...

Thanks cafdagnone, here are some (hopefully) better pictures of the inside. We all know what color the connecting strip between two halves is, maybe its a good point for comparison. Frankly more strange to me is the "paint bleeding" on the front plate, because these games are known for the impeccable quality and I have never seen something like this.

Hi, Allan. Thanks for these better photos. The inner frames are with colors OK! The mystery still holds on about the front plate and its "paint bleeding": I've never seen it before also... I suggest you to return this G&W and take another one, if it's possible...

Hi Allan,
My guess is that the outside is a factory mistake, something wrong with the inking process at the factory. Could be from water/moisture damage but I doubt it.
The inside is probably due to sun damage.
I looked at my M&D and the colors are neatly between the lines.

Thanks Ash888, I doubt that it is from water damage as well. Blue paint seems to follow the top and bottom tips of the letters and "bleeding" appears between letters tips and inside O and D letters. Added another pic. I thought about returning it, but if it really is some rare factory mistake, don`t know if I want to

Another possibility is that a kid ran a blue permanent marker over it 30+ years ago. I've seen lots of doodles, names written, etc. on these used games throughout the years. But it's odd how the middle of the "O" has no ink. Never seen seen this before, so thanks for sharing.
