genuine original G&W batteries??? was created by triket
HI patrick and anybody else out there looking.

My question is this - is there a way of knowing which batteries were originally shipped with which games? as i look in my collection i see the majority of serial numbered boxes dont match the serial numbers on the games inside them... people mix and match these things.

- well what about batteries? if you buy a mint condition 'ball' with original everything, how do you know that the batteries would have been in a white or a green packet? i have a few games with original batteries. what's to stop people putting them in the boxes of the games with more value and increase their value further...? I am sure this sort of thing happens all the time.

Unfortunately you are right. People do change contents, this is called "content swapping". The main reason people do this, is to increase the value of the games as you mentioned allready.

There is nothing you can do about it :(

A section with information about the batteries is planned to put online here on G&W.ch. A while ago, the member 'Collectorscorner' said that he wants to do it, but I don't know if he has the information allready or not, but I'll ask him.

Here are the information I got from our member Collectorscorner (thanx!):

Battery packet: Eight variations exist, most had japanese and english writing on them. Blue letters on white packet (LR43, 1980 - 1983) in two variations (one folded packet which appeared after 1982 and one normal 1980-81), purple letters on white packet (LR43, 1983-88, folded), white letters on purple packet (LR43, english only, 1990-), red letters on white packet (LR44, 1982-83), green letters on white packet (LR44, 1983-1989, folded), white letters on green packet (LR44, english only, 1990-1992), and CR2025 battery orange/black packet (english only, 1986).

Hey does a G&W go down in value if i bought it and it didnt have the original batteries? I could always just get some new ones.. :?

EDIT: oh and say i managed to buy a Boxed Game and watch and the Game&Watch was still in the bag, is this bag sealed? Or can you take out the Game&Watch without having to open it??

I'd get tempted to play the game lol

A game for sure has a higher value if it contains the original batteries.

The bags weren't sealed, just folded at the opening end.

Thats a bit stupid lol.. arent batteries just.. batteries? Surely You could get some of them same batteries ( i noticed they are made by Maxwell?) Then stick them in lol xD

EDIT: i noticed this is what the topic is about. SO i guess i would be abel to do 'Content Swapping'

Yes, they are different.
Maxell did produce them exclusively for Nintendo, they weren't sold anywhere else. That makes them special (and expensive).
