Blisterpack Boxing
On April 22nd an auction for a very rare Game&Watch game has ended on eBay: A blisterpack Boxing.Game&Watch games in blisterpacks are rare. In most cases the box of the games is not included in blisterpack games. But there are exceptions as you can see here. This blisterpack contains the box of the game as well! Having a look into the database here on gameandwatch.ch shows, that there is not one single record of such a combination so far.
This blisterpack Boxing for sure is extremely rare. The end price of EUR 323,00 is rather low in my opinion even if the blisterpack has some damage.

Special Turtle Bridge!
Yesterday was the 1st of April! The "special" Turtle Bridge here does not exist. It was an April Fools day joke. The game was created on the PC with a picture editing software. Who of you got fooled? April Fools Day!
It's just about two months month ago, since the rare promotional version of the Lion from the Gold Series was discovered on eBay (see news below on this page). Now another rare game was found: a Turtle Bridge from the Wide Screen Series. Its two imprints above and below the screen are upside down. The imprints Turtle Bridge above the LCD screen and Wide Screen below it are rotated by 180°, just if the game or the metal face plate was placed wrongly into the machine.
The game was on eBay, but the misprint was barely visible because the auction picture was of rather low quality and not very big (see upper picture to the right). Only the original picture shows this misprint clearly. Only those who did have a very, very close look at the picture could spot this rarity!
gameandwatch.ch relaunch
gameandwatch.ch is reworked but the main navigation remains almost the same as before.A very big change is the database search. Before there were a few pages with searches, such as search for auctions, search for seller or search for serial numbers.
But now, all these searches are merged into one on the page G&W Database Search.
New there: the possibility to search by keywords!
Enjoy!
Game&Watch in "Hobby Magazin der Technik" magazine
The magazine Hobby Magazin der Technik from Germany has in its issue number 15 from 18th of July 1983 an article about handheld games. They were just about to conquer the market in Germany. In the article you can read, that about 30‘000 to 60‘000 of these handhelds have been sold so far by the middle of 1983.
Unfortunately Nintendo Ggame&Watch is not mentioned in the article, instead there are pictures of two Multi Screen Games: Mickey&Donald and Green House.

Advertising version of Lion found!
Same Game&Watch were produced in limited editions as promotional versions. Promotional versions are Game&Watch games that do have imprinted an additional company logo on their case. For example the logo of the companies Bosch, Candia, Alsthom and some more. Such games are of course very rare and highly sought after, because they are very special collector's items. Also, you never know if not suddenly such an unknown advertising game appears somewhere. And that is exactly what happened!
